(Phnom Penh): The Cambodian People’s Party firmly rejects the baseless statement issued by the Pheu Thai Party dated 12 November 2025, accusing Cambodia of laying new landmines, resulting in the recent injury of the Thai soldiers. Any intended accusation made without factual basis, clear investigation, or the politicization of mine incidents for slander, risk damaging the mutual trust and defaming a State Party to the Ottawa Convention and its spirit.

"The Cambodian People’s Party strongly condemns the unprovoked shooting by Thai forces against Cambodian civilians in Prey Chan village, Banteay Meanchey province on 12 November 2025, which resulted in one civilian killed and three others injured. This constitutes a deliberate act of destroying the effort for ceasefire and peace. We call for an independent investigation with the participation of foreign experts to find the truth and provide justice to the affected civilians," according to the statement seen by Fresh News on Thursday (Nov. 13).

"As a State Party to the Ottawa Convention, Cambodia has been actively engaging in the efforts to eliminate landmines and clear explosive remnants of war within its territory as well as contributed to the United Nations demining operations in other countries, earning international recognition as a model of global mine action. The Royal Government of Cambodia has been implementing strict measures to combat all forms of online scams through joint investigation, information sharing, and mutual legal assistance, resulting in tangible outcomes.

We encourage the governments of both countries to fully uphold and implement the international law, as well as the ceasefire agreement reached on 28 July 2025, brokered under the leadership of Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim as the ASEAN Chair, at the initiative of President of the United States Donald Trump, and with the active participation of the People’s Republic of China, especially the recent Joint Declaration between Cambodia and Thailand signed on 26 October 2025 in order to de-escalate the tension, restore confidence and peace along the border.

We appreciate the statement issued by the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) dated 12 November 2025 in Islamabad, Pakistan, calling for the respect and full implementation of the Joint Declaration between Cambodia and Thailand.

The Cambodian People’s Party reaffirms Cambodia’s strong commitment to continue maintaining peace, upholding the international law, and cooperating with the international community in addressing the challenges through peaceful means to bring about regional peace and stability, in which the Cambodian People’s Party plays a constructive role in upholding the people welfare at its core."
