(Phnom Penh): On Wednesday (Nov. 12), Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet condemned the Thai side’s use of violence against innocent Cambodian civilians in Prey Chan village. Samdech Thipadei also instructed local authorities and all competent forces to take immediate measures to protect the innocent civilian.
Samdech Thipadei wrote on his social media on Wednesday (Nov. 12) as follow:
“I strongly condemn the Thai side’s use of violence against innocent Cambodian civilians in Prey Chan village on the evening of 12 November 2025, which resulted in three civilians being injured and one losing their life.
This act contradicts humanitarian principles as well as the mutual understanding to resolve border issues through peaceful means, particularly the agreement to allow the Joint Border Commission (JBC) to carry out surveys, install temporary boundary posts, and maintain the status quo until the measurements are completed and approved by the JBC.
I urge the Thai side to immediately cease the use of force against innocent Cambodian civilians in Prey Chan village and refrain from using force in resolving border issues between the two countries.
I call for an independent investigation into this incident with the participation of relevant international experts to uncover the truth and deliver justice to the victims of this attack.
At the same time, I instruct local authorities and all security forces to take urgent measures to protect our people, ensuring their safety and lives are safeguarded at all costs.
Cambodia remains committed to resolving issues peacefully, in accordance with the spirit of the Joint Declaration signed in Kuala Lumpur on 26 October 2025, to end the conflict and build lasting peace between the two countries.”
