(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, would like to inform the public, as well as national and international media outlets, as follows:
At 3:05 PM on 31 October 2025, at the O’Smach border checkpoint in Oddar Meanchey Province, the Cambodian Military Region 4 and the Thai 2nd Army Area held a special meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) to discuss the removal of heavy and destructive weapons and equipment, following the Special Regional Border Committee (RBC) Joint Secretariat Meeting, which was concluded this morning.
This meeting was co-chaired by Lieutenant General Pov Heng, the commander of the Military Region 4 of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Major General Virakyuth Raksing, the Commander of the 2nd Army Area of the Kingdom of Thailand, with participation from ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) based in Cambodia and Thailand to monitor, verify, and ensure the full, accurate, and effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
Both parties discussed and agreed on a concrete plan for the gradual and phased removal of heavy and destructive weapons and equipment under the observation and verification of the AOT, with the joint objective of de-escalating military tension.
