(Paris): Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, reaffirmed Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to peaceful coexistence, good neighborliness, and ASEAN unity and centrality, during her participation as a featured speaker in the panel discussion entitled “Fault Lines and Frontlines: Asia’s Shifting Geopolitics”, held within the framework of the 8th Edition of the Paris Peace Forum in Paris, France.

The high-level session, co-organised by the Paris Peace Forum and Asia Society France, brought together senior parliamentarians, policymakers, and experts from leading think tanks from around the world for a dialogue on how political leaders are navigating the region’s evolving geopolitical landscape and promoting cooperation amid global uncertainty.

Addressing the question on the Cambodia–Thailand Peace Agreement and the role of parliamentary diplomacy, Samdech Khuon Sudary underscored that peace and regional stability remain central to Cambodia’s foreign policy.

“We are grateful for the signing of the Cambodia–Thailand Peace Agreement on 26 October 2025, witnessed by President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. This marks an important step toward restoring long-lasting peace and normalcy between the two Kingdoms,” she said.

“However, there is still a long way to go. Therefore, we call upon the international community to closely monitor the implementation of this agreement to ensure its effectiveness and sustainability,” Samdech added.

Samdech Khuon Sudary emphasised that Cambodia continues to uphold diplomacy and international law as the foundation for peaceful dispute settlement, while placing the interests and aspirations of the people at the center of all negotiations.

“Parliamentary diplomacy plays a crucial role in fostering mutual understanding and trust, thereby creating favorable conditions for lasting peace and shared prosperity,” she underlined.

Reflecting on Cambodia’s modern history, Samdech Khuon Sudary noted that the nation’s past experiences of conflict have strengthened its profound appreciation for peace.

“Cambodia values peace deeply. We embrace peace wholeheartedly and continue to work to preserve and promote it with our neighbors, guided by the spirit of friendship, dialogue, and mutual respect,” she remarked.
