(Kuala Lumpur): On Tuesday morning (Oct. 28), Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet held a bilateral meeting with Alexei Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, on the occasion of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, taking place from 26–28 October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
During the meeting, the deputy prime minister conveyed to Samdech Thipadei that Cambodia is a long-standing friend of Russia and that both countries share traditional relations. He emphasised Russia’s intention to continue strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in several priority areas including trade, economy, raw materials for textiles, vaccine production, agriculture, energy security, transportation, and logistics.
In response, Samdech Thipadei agreed with the deputy prime minister’s remarks regarding the long-standing friendship and traditional relations between Cambodia and Russia. He highlighted that 2026 will mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Cambodia will continue working closely with Russia to further promote and deepen their friendship and bilateral cooperation.
Samdech Thipadei also expressed appreciation to Russia for its support and assistance to Cambodia over the years. He welcomed Russia’s interest and commitment to expanding cooperation in the above-mentioned key sectors and encouraged the Russian side to dispatch technical delegations from relevant fields to Cambodia for further discussions and engagement with Cambodian ministries, institutions, and the private sector to seek concrete outcomes.
