(Phnom Penh): Lee Hwan Ju, CEO of KB Kookmin Bank–South Korea’s first top bank and the sole shareholder of KB PRASAC Bank, made his first visit to Cambodia on 20-21 October 2025 with the purposes of reviewing the performance of its subsidiary, build closer relationships and show the dedication of the shareholder to KB PRASAC Bank’s management and staff, and explore opportunities to further expand investment in the Cambodian market.
During the trip, Lee Hwan Ju paid a courtesy visit to Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, at the National Bank of Cambodia, Wat Phnom Building. The meeting was a pleasant and productive one, with Lee highlighting the favorable investment climate in Cambodia, especially in the banking and finance industry, through the operations of its subsidiary, KB PRASAC Bank Plc. He also indicated that KB Kookmin Bank has a long-term vision and strategy to invest in Cambodia, along with bringing technology and innovation to provide more new financial services and products to the Cambodian people.
In response, the Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia welcomed and thanked the shareholder representative of KB Kookmin Bank of South Korea for their high appreciation of the progress of the Cambodian economy and financial sector, especially their commitment to further strengthen investment in Cambodia. She also spoke about the progress of the preparation of measures and emphasized the provision of cooperation aimed at providing favorable conditions for operations in the financial sector in Cambodia.
On that occasion, the Governor and the CEO also exchanged views on the economic situation, financial stability, strengthening cybersecurity, and cooperation on the development of cross-border payment systems.
Lee Hwan Ju also met with the management of KB PRASAC Bank at the head office to discuss new strategies to maintain loan portfolio growth, promote digital development, attract and create a savings culture for customers, prioritize customer-centric service, and retain the bank’s human resources.
Lee continued his visit by inspecting the operations of KB PRASAC Bank’s branches, including Ang Ta Som Branch, Takeo Branch in Takeo Province, and AEON Mall Meanchey Branch in Phnom Penh. During that time, he learned about the methods of providing financial services to customers, the performance achieved by each branch, and how to take into consideration the income, expenses, and savings before customers decide to borrow money to expand and use in their business or/and family, etc. Overall, he gave recommendations and requested the management and staff of KB PRASAC Bank to continue to strive to take care of and retain customers by providing fast, accurate, adequate, and timely services, and upholding the bank’s values by putting customer centricity as priority.
After the visit, Lee Hwan Ju also took the opportunity to visit Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum (Sosoro), expressing his interest and praise for the well-organized operation of the museum and the long journey of monetary history in Cambodia.
