(Phnom Penh): The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Phnom Penh will bring a lively taste of Indonesia to Cambodia’s capital through a special event titled “Phsaar Reatrei Indonesia”, scheduled to take place at Chaktomuk Walk Street in mid-November 2025.
The Indonesian Ambassador, Dr. Santo Darmosumarto, conveyed the plan during a meeting with Phnom Penh Governor, H.E. Khuong Sreng, on 21 October 2025 at the Governor’s office.
Ambassador Santo commended the Chaktomuk Walk Street as a vibrant public venue that brings together peoples from all walks of life, age, and background to enjoy the beauty and energy of Phnom Penh during the weekends. He said the decision to hold Phsaar Reatrei Indonesia at the popular riverside destination reflects Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship between the peoples of Indonesia and Cambodia.
“We are inspired by the inclusivity and vibrancy of Chaktomuk Walk Street,” said Ambassador Santo. “We aim to promote people-to-people interactions and showcase Indonesia’s culture, tradition, and creativity in an open and joyful setting,” he added.
Phsaar Reatrei Indonesia will feature a vibrant lineup of traditional dance and music performances as well as Indonesian culinary delights. Well known Indonesian brand products will also be available for sale.
The event follows on the successful organizing of Sousdey Indonesia, the biggest solo exhibition of Indonesian products, in June this year. The hope is that Phsaar Reatrei Indonesia would further make Indonesian food and culture appreciated by local Cambodians.
Governor Khuong Sreng warmly welcomed the plan and expressed his support for the special event. He emphasized that Chaktomuk Walk Street is organized every week to provide a venue for everyone, including international visitors, to experience the hospitality and social harmony of Cambodia.
The meeting between the Governor and the Ambassador also covered discussions on further enhancing economic cooperation as well as collaboration in facilitating the needs of the growing Indonesian diaspora in Phnom Penh and the rest of Cambodia. The number of Indonesians living in the capital city has grown significantly over the years, as indicated by the presence of more Indonesian restaurants and cafes.
