(Phnom Penh): According to Cambodian Defence Spokesperson Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, the 2nd Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting commenced this morning (Oct. 23), in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, under the observership of several key parties: representatives of the Malaysia, representatives of the United States and members of the Interim Observer Team (IOT) in Cambodia and Thailand.
The Cambodian delegation was led by General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Co-Chairman of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC). The Thailand delegation was led by General Nattaphon Nakphanit, Minister of National Defence of the Kingdom of Thailand and Co-Chairman of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC).
It is also worth noting that the 2nd Special GBC Meeting between Cambodia and Thailand is a follow-up to the 1st Special GBC Meeting between the Cambodia-Thai General Border Committee (GBC) held on 10 September 2025, in Koh Kong Province, Kingdom of Cambodia. This 2nd Special GBC Meeting aims to review the results of the implementation of the consensus reached at the GBC extraordinary meeting on 7 August 2025, in Malaysia.
Cambodia firmly believes that the 2nd Special GBC Meeting will yield further fruitful outcomes and ensure the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement by both parties, to promote peace, stability, and a swift return to normalcy.
