(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet sent a congratulatory letter to Takaichi Sanae on her recent election as the prime minister of Japan.
“On behalf of the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia, I have the great pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations to Your Excellency on your historic election as the first female Prime Minister of Japan by the Japanese Diet on 21 October 2025,” according to the letter seen by Fresh News on Thursday (Oct. 23).
“Over the years, Cambodia and Japan have consistently maintained excellent relations, underpinned by frequent high-level exchanges and robust cooperation across a wide range of sectors. In May this year, I had the pleasure of undertaking a meaningful and fruitful visit to Japan, during which both our countries reaffirmed their strong commitment to further deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, a new milestone in our bilateral relations reached in 2023.
I stand ready to work closely with Your Excellency to further strengthen the enduring partnership between our two countries, as we collectively advance our shared vision for peace, stability, and prosperity—both within our region and beyond. To this end, I look forward to the opportunity to meet with Your Excellency at the earliest convenience.”
