(Kandal): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet shared five recommendations to all relevant ministries and institutions to ensure quality, efficiency, and progress in Cambodia’s civil aviation sector, speaking on Monday (Oct. 20) during the inauguration for official launch of Techo International Airport in Kandal province.
The five recommendations are as follows:
First, the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) must cooperate with relevant ministries and institutions to further promote air connectivity by restoring flights suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic and adding new routes, particularly direct flights from major tourism cities to Cambodia. At the same time, all travel- and tourism-related services must maintain high standards of care and hospitality.
Second, the Ministry of Tourism must work with relevant institutions to promote Cambodia’s tourism potential by emphasizing travel convenience through direct, connecting, and multiple-flight options.
Third, the Ministry of Interior, responsible for protecting passenger safety, must continue monitoring global trends related to terrorism, transnational crime, human trafficking, and smuggling to ensure the safety, security, and order for travellers entering Cambodia, as well as the well-being of Cambodian citizens. Additionally, immigration officers must strictly uphold professional ethics, as they represent the first impression of Cambodia to international visitors.
Fourth, the SSCA and OCIC, particularly the Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd., must continue cooperating with relevant authorities to strengthen safety, security, order, and sanitation within and around Techo International Airport. They must also ensure comfort, convenience, and positive experiences for travellers entering and departing Cambodia. Moreover, services should reflect Cambodia’s national identity that are smiling and warm hospitality, while maintaining strict management and regular inspections of shops, restaurants, and beverage outlets to ensure compliance with technical and hygiene standards.
Fifth, relevant ministries and institutions, especially the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), the Sihanoukville Provincial Investment Promotion Working Group, and the Northeastern Investment Promotion Working Group, must actively promote Cambodia’s investment potential by highlighting the Royal Government’s efforts to improve the investment and business environment, with Techo International Airport and Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport serving as strong examples of such progress.
