(Phnom Penh): High school students in Cambodia and the US collected and distributed donations for charities to 180 refugee households in Wat Phnom Thmar Kambor, Oddar Meanchey Province.

On Saturday morning (Oct. 18), the group of high school students in Cambodia and the US includes: Chan Samethik, Yeth Bensonsaktheyus (Billy), No Rachiv, No Chhursivheng, Tang Kokyong, Ay Song Visoth, Kham Samnang, Virak Sotheara, Jang Fulong, Chhay Pong Puthichhat, Prak Sokuddom, Bun Rane, Cheam Jay Ritee Jun, Chea Sopharoth, Tha Niphirith (kkay), Lao Kim Veng, Yun Elite, Hap Rosanna, and Suy Bunhak visited and brought humanitarian aid such as household items, food, and some money to 180 displaced families to help ease the burden of the people who are temporarily staying at Wat Phnom Thmar Kambor in Banteay Ampil commune, Oddar Meanchey province.

On this occasion, Mean Chanyada, Governor of Oddar Meanchey Provincial Council, took valuable time to welcome and meet with the students, praising and expressing pride in their bravery, generosity, humanity, and gratitude toward the fellow citizens who have fled the war started by Thailand, and the heroism of the Cambodian armed forces who have sacrificed to protect the integrity of the territory and the safety of the population. In addition, His Excellency also motivated all the students to continue striving to study in order to gain knowledge, strong skills, and good morals and virtues so they can take part in building and further developing the nation.

Along this charitable journey, a group of high school students gathered to meet and advise their grandparents, uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, and nieces on taking care of their health and prevent various illnesses. The young group also expressed sympathy for those who have been displaced, particularly children, the elderly, pregnant women, and babies, as a result of Thailand's attack against Cambodia's territorial integrity.

The young people in the above group of students also used this chance to show respect, thanks, and admiration for the bravery and great sacrifices of our military heroes, since some of their families are also refugees. Aside from calling for peace and prosperity along the border for the good of the people of both countries, the students additionally called on the Thai government and military to respect Cambodia's territorial integrity, human rights, and international law.

The youth group brought the donations to the refugees at that time included: rice, canned fish, dried fish, fish sauce, soy sauce, MSG, salt, and other daily necessities, totaling approximately USD13,000. The above food, supplies, and money were donated by generous individuals, and they were collected by a group of young students at the Kilometers for Khmer Charity Run, which took place on 5 October 2025, at Borey Peng Huot, Eco Park 1 Project, Phnom Penh.
