(Banteay Meanchey): From August 12–13, 2025, until October 18, residents of Prey Chan and Chouk Chey villages in Ou Beichoan commune, Ou Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, endured more than two months of intense psychological pressure due to continuous operations by Thai military forces. These included encirclement and land encroachment, attempts to expand occupied areas, sounds harassment, threatening broadcasts, and repeated demands for villagers to abandon their homes.

Throughout this period, villagers lived under constant fear and stress. Their days were marked by anxiety, sleepless nights, and the absence of peace or smiles. However, a sense of relief and hope has begun to emerge following news that Cambodia and Thailand have reached a draft peace agreement.

When a visiting journalist shared news of a peace agreement, the atmosphere in Prey Chan village transformed dramatically. Overcome with emotion, many residents fell to their knees, offering tearful prayers of gratitude to the sacred Earth, a heartfelt gesture symbolizing both relief and renewed faith in peace.

Villagers expressed that, despite months of hardship, hunger, and uncertainty, their only wish is for lasting peace and an end to suffering for their families and communities along the border.
