(Banteay Meanchey): On the evening of October 17, 2025, Thai extremists resumed broadcasting loud, disruptive sounds toward residents of Chouk Chey village. The noise attack began at 5:30 p.m. and lasted for nearly one hour before stopping at 6:18 p.m. No further disturbances were reported after that, through the early morning of October 18.
It should be noted that on October 17, 2035, at around 5:30 p.m., Thai extremists, backed by the Thai military and Sa Kaeo provincial authorities, resumed loudspeaker attacks targeting Cambodian civilians in Chouk Chey village, an area previously seized by Thai forces. The assault used four vehicles equipped with high-powered loudspeakers, one elevated to 30 meters, projecting sound reportedly reaching 500 decibels and audible up to 30 kilometers away.
Such extreme noise, far beyond the safe human threshold of 100 decibels, can cause severe physical harm and psychological trauma. The broadcasts, directed solely toward Cambodian territory, did not affect Thai residents. More than 3,000 villagers, including the elderly, people with disabilities, and young children, suffered serious distress.
Observers monitoring the Cambodia–Thailand border have called on the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to take immediate action to end these serious violations.
