(Banteay Meanchey): A Khmer-American woman, Oum Meyrady, has called on the international community and US President Donald Trump to help restore peace and end Thailand’s aggression against Cambodia.

On the Wednesday morning (Oct. 15), Oum Meyrady and her husband Oum Vuttha, conducted an on-site visit to assess the living conditions of residents in Prey Chan village, Ou Beichuan commune, Ou Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province. Prey Chan village is one of Cambodia’s border villages that has faced illegal encroachment by Thai troops, who used barbed wire to fence off and seize 19 Cambodian families’ homes and farmland on 13 August 2025.

Oum Meyrady expressed deep sympathy for the villagers who have been subjected to intimidation and suffering by the Thai military. She noted that the incursion has forced local children to stop attending school and live under temporary tents after their homes were seized by Thai forces.

Overwhelmed with emotion, she tearfully shared the hardships endured by the villagers, stressing that Cambodia seeks no foreign territory, only peace.

Oum Meyrady urged the international community and the President of the United States to pay attention to the villagers’ plight, assist in bringing peace to Cambodia, and help stop Thailand’s aggression.
