(Phnom Penh): The Spokesperson of the Royal Government of Cambodia has observed that Thai leaders and officials at all levels have repeatedly exaggerated and distorted the truth about the border issues between Cambodia and Thailand by accusing Cambodia of being the one who fired first, violated the ceasefire terms, encroached on Thai territory, and threatened its national security etc., while portraying itself as the victim of encroachment by Cambodia, while Cambodia is the real victim.

“Concretely speaking, on 9 October 2025, the Head of Thai Government told several domestic media outlets that "Thailand is the one being encroached and victimized", and set the conditions demanding that Cambodia relocates its citizens from the land where they have lived for decades in return for the peace agreement,” according to the statement seen by Fresh News on Thursday (Oct. 9).

“The Spokesperson of the Royal Government of Cambodia would like to inform the national and international public that as a peace-loving country that aspires for a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development with neighboring countries, the Royal Government of Cambodia has always adhered to the principle of not invading the territory of any neighboring countries even by a millimetre, and merely reserves its rights to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with national and international law.

The Spokesperson of the Royal Government of Cambodia wishes to reaffirm its commitment to a peaceful resolution of the border issue based on technical mechanisms and international laws. Cambodia is of the view that the border issue cannot be resolved through the use of force. It is in this sense that the Royal Government of Cambodia strictly exercises its utmost restraint even in the face of provocations and violations undertaken by the Thai side during the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

The Spokesperson of the Royal Government of Cambodia, once again, calls upon Thailand to demonstrate its goodwill to peacefully resolve the border issues with restraint through the existing bilateral mechanisms such as the JBC, GBC, and RBC and in accordance with the conventions, treaties, and international laws. And this is the only way to solve the border issues peacefully that ensures a sustainable and long-term peace.”
