(Phnom Penh): The Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia wishes to inform the national and international public that the information circulating on social media claiming that “a Thai chef died after a local hospital refused treatment” is false.

"Following a thorough investigation by the competent authorities and an official autopsy, it has been confirmed that the Thai national died of a heart attack. There is no evidence that he sought medical treatment or was refused admission at any local hospital prior to his death," according to the press release seen by Fresh News on Wednesday (Oct. 8).

"The Ministry of Health therefore categorically rejects the dissemination of this false information regarding the unfortunate death of a 24-year-old Thai man from Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, which occurred in Kbal Spean 1 Village, O Chrov Commune, Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province.

The spread of such misinformation unjustly undermines the integrity and reputation of Cambodian health professionals and creates misunderstanding among both national and international audiences. The Ministry reaffirms that all health officials and medical staff across the country have consistently upheld the professional code of ethics, providing medical care without discrimination based on race, religion, or political affiliation.

The Ministry of Health remains fully committed to ensuring equitable access to quality health services for all, as part of Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage, ensuring that no one is left behind.

This statement is issued for the purpose of clarifying the facts and informing the public."
