(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by a delegation of the Malaysian Parliamentary Federation for World Peace (PFWP) led by Mohd Hatta, Member of the Malaysian Parliamentary, on Thursday (Oct. 2) at the Peace Palace.
During the meeting, Mohd Hatta thanked Samdech Thipadei for allowing him and his delegation to pay a courtesy call on. He conveyed his delight in leading the Malaysian parliamentary delegation to visit Cambodia, while also noting the progress Cambodia has achieved.
He also thanked the Cambodian parliamentary delegation for inviting them to attend the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in Malaysia recently. He expressed his confidence that this visit would further contribute to strengthening parliamentary ties between the two countries and deepening Malaysia–Cambodia bilateral relations.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei warmly welcomed Mohd Hatta and the Malaysian parliamentary delegation on their visit to Cambodia. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of Cambodia–Malaysia relations and cooperation across many key areas, including inter-parliamentary cooperation. The premier underlined that frequent exchanges of visits within the framework of both executive and legislative institutions of the two countries are crucial in promoting, strengthening, and expanding bilateral relations.
Premier Hun Manet and Mohd Hatta also discussed bilateral cooperation in several priority areas, including politics, trade and economy, defence, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei expressed his deep gratitude to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for his facilitation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as Malaysia’s role in coordinating and leading the Interim Observer Team (IOT) to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
