(Phnom Penh): Students from the American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP) have recently demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication by securing victories in 4 significant national and regional competitions, underscoring the university’s growing reputation for fostering innovative and future-ready professionals.
In the realm of technology and robotics, AUPP students from the Faculty of Digital Technologies showcased their creativity at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2025 National Round. The team, comprising of Heng Bunkheang, Chamroeun Vireakpanha, and Chhun Paulen, developed an autonomous self-driving robot car that impressed judges with its design and programming. Their achievement not only earned them top honors at the national level but also secured their place in the international finals scheduled to take place in Singapore.
Meanwhile, in debating and critical thinking, students from AUPP made a notable impact at the 2nd Digital Trade Forum Youth Debate organized by Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce. The team, consisting of Sokkheang Heng, Tyvirakpoung Piset, David Mov, and Songkrea Oeung, demonstrated exceptional eloquence and analytical skills, ultimately claiming the championship title. Their performance was lauded for blending technical knowledge with sharp critical arguments, exemplifying the interdisciplinary approach that AUPP promotes among its students.
Further emphasizing their regional influence, AUPP students participated in the 7th ASEAN AICHR Youth Debate, where their skills garnered regional recognition. Notably, Sokkheang Heng was awarded the title of Best Speaker, a testament to her oratory and diplomatic abilities. The University’s Debate Society was also praised for its regional leadership and diplomatic skill, showcasing the very best of AUPP’s interdisciplinary strengths.
Last but not the least, 8 AUPP students distinguished themselves nationally and are set to represent Cambodia at the ASEAN China India Youth Leadership Summit (ACIYLS) 2025 in Singapore. Focused on sustainability and innovative solutions, the summit provides a platform for youth teams to brainstorm and pitch impactful ideas. This opportunity underscores AUPP’s dedication to developing leaders who are passionate about creating positive change on an international scale.
