(Banteay Meanchey): At 10:43 p.m. on 30 September 2025, three weapon explosions were heard inside Thai territory opposite Ou Beichoan village, Ou Beichoan commune, Ou Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, near border marker No. 44.
Ou Beichoan commune, Ou Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, Cambodia, is an area where Thai troops have repeatedly violated Cambodian territory and sovereignty. In this area, Thai forces have installed barbed wire across Cambodian land and civilian properties in Chouk Chey and Prey Chan villages, breaching international law and bilateral agreements.
Thailand has continued military activities in violation of the deal, including troop deployments and provocative actions, despite the ceasefire agreement reached on 28 July 2025.
The cause of last night’s explosions is not yet known. Similar incidents have occurred in the past, yet the Cambodian side has consistently refrained from retaliation, adhering strictly to the ceasefire.
It should be noted that Thailand has continually provoked incidents along the border during the ceasefire, seemingly with the intention of igniting clashes. In particular, on 27 September, Thai troops fired artillery into Cambodia’s Anseh area, Choam Ksant district, Preah Vihear province. However, in line with the ceasefire spirit, the Cambodian troops did not return fire.
As of 7:00 a.m. on 1 October 2025, the situation in Ou Beichoan commune, especially in Chouk Chey and Prey Chan villages, remains calm despite the latest incident.
