(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn reiterated Cambodia's position to making every effort to de-escalate the

tensions, rebuild trust and implement fully and sincerely the recent agreements towards normalization of Cambodia-Thailand bilateral relations.

"The foreign minister thanked UNSG and conveyed the gratitude of the Royal Government of Cambodia for his continued engagement in supporting the de- escalation of tensions in the border dispute with Thailand, particularly through his positive statement calling both sides to refrain from the use of force, and requested him to continue to do so. Cambodia will continue to make more effort to de-escalate tensions, rebuild trust and restore normalcy in our relations with Thailand," according to the outcomes seen by Fresh News on Tuesday (Sep. 30).

On this occasion, the minister also brought to the attention of the General Assembly the most recent unprovoked attack by Thailand against Cambodia, which occurred in the afternoon of 27 September 2025. He firmly rejected the allegation that Cambodian forces had opened fire first, stressing that Cambodia's troops neither engaged in such action nor retaliated, thereby underscoring Cambodia's resolute commitment to peace.

Finally, the foreign minister reaffrmed Cambodia's support for pragmatic UN reform to enhance preventive diplomacy, strengthen the role of the General Assembly, expand Security Council representation, and improve peacekeeping operations. He urged all nations to honor the UN's founding vision by choosing cooperation, dialogue, and hope over conflict and division.
