(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen, in his role as President of the Cambodia Veterans Association, announced that Prime Minister Hun Manet has approved a doubling of the annual budget for veterans from 4 billion to 8 billion riels, beginning in 2026.

Samdech Techo spoke during the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Cambodian Veterans Association, held at the Ministry of Interior on Monday (Sep. 29).

"Prime Minister Hun Manet has agreed to increase the budget from 4 billion riels per year to 8 billion riels per year, starting from 2026." Samdech Techo underscored.

The president explained that the Royal Government’s decision to double the budget for the Veterans Association represents an additional contribution to ease the burdens of the association’s leadership.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also thanked Samdech Thipadei for increasing the veterans’ budget. Furthermore, he highlighted that the Royal Government has established an information technology system to manage the records of veterans and former civil servants. This system aims to ensure effective management and secure the delivery of monthly social security benefits to veterans through partner banks nationwide.

In addition, the Royal Government provides National Social Security Fund (NSSF) health services to veterans, retirees, persons with disabilities, and retired officials. Families of deceased veterans also benefit from the Health Equity Fund, granting free access to medical treatment at public and contracted private hospitals.

At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen instructed Deputy Prime Minister Kun Kim to ensure that the expanded 8 billion riels budget is used efficiently and sustainably to strengthen the welfare of veterans.
