(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen announced that Samdech and his spouse will contribute to building 100 houses annually for veterans over the next five years, totalling 500 homes by 2030.
Samdech Techo spoke during the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Cambodian Veterans Association, held at the Ministry of Interior on Monday (Sep. 29).
"My wife and I would like to announce today that we will help build 100 houses per year for veterans from 2025 until 2030, because my mandate will end in 2030," Samdech Techo underscored.
The president added that the funding for the first 100 houses will be released this year, with additional funds to follow annually until the plan is fulfilled. He also pledged to consider extending the program beyond 2030.
As President of the Cambodia Veterans and Pensioners Association, Samdech Techo Hun Sen urged the continuation of the housing project for veterans and pensioners who already own land, noting that the initiative is effective because landowners contribute property while the association, authorities, and philanthropists provide financial and material support. He emphasized that this collaboration has consistently improved veterans’ and pensioners’ livelihoods.
