(Phnom Penh): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Veterans Association, announced that the association has been officially renamed to the “Cambodia Veterans and Pensioners Association.”

Speaking at the Extraordinary General Assembly on Monday (Sep. 29), at the Ministry of Interior, Samdech Techo also revealed a succession plan: once he steps down, the First Vice President will automatically assume the presidency.

He stated, “As of now, the Cambodian Veterans Association will be renamed the Association of Veterans and Retirees, along with the introduction of a new logo for the association.”

On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen also encouraged the establishment of veterans’ associations within civil ministries and institutions, with respective ministers to serve as association heads.

The Cambodian Veterans Association was originally founded by Samdech Techo Hun Sen. The inaugural national assembly of the association was held on 21 June 2007, a historic event in Cambodia that was met with warm support from the public, the international community, and veterans nationwide.
