(Phnom Penh): Acting Head of State and President of the Cambodian Veterans Association, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, announced that the government will no longer grant state land concessions to private companies. Instead, land will be allocated to impoverished citizens, veterans, and pensioners in need.

The announcement came during the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Cambodian Veterans Association, held at the Ministry of Interior on Monday (Sep. 29).

“Since 2012, we have stopped granting economic land concessions to any companies, and this policy will continue. State land will not be handed to private enterprises,” Samdech Techo underscored.

He added that reclaimed state land will be reserved strictly for social land concessions, prioritizing the poor, veterans, and retired citizens. He urged the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction to maintain tight oversight, ensuring land goes only to those genuinely in need.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also instructed the Ministry and the National Committee for Social Land Concessions to keep evaluating opportunities for distributing land to former armed forces personnel, veterans, and pensioners.
