(Phnom Penh): While attending the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China on the evening of 26 September 2025, Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen affirmed that 2025 is a special year for Cambodia–China relations.

He highlighted five key reasons why this year holds special significance:

First, the 15th Anniversary of the Cambodia–China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Second, the fruitful State Visit of President Xi Jinping to Cambodia in April.

Third, the Royal Visit of Cambodian king to China in early September.

Fourth, the participation of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Tianjin at the end of August.

Fifth, the Cambodia–China Year of People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges in 2025.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen further underlined that China is Cambodia’s major trading partner, investor, top donor and a leading contributor to human resource development. These supports have played a vital role in driving socio-economic progress, advancing infrastructure, and improving the livelihoods of the Cambodian people.

He further expressed confidence that both nations will continue to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, and supply chains, with a particular focus on expanding Cambodia’s agricultural exports to the Chinese market.
