(Phnom Penh): The Royal Government of Cambodia continued to utilize all available mechanisms to push for the release of the 18 Cambodian soldiers under Thai custody so that they may reunite with their families in the near future. This was according to a press release on the outcomes of the Cabinet meeting chaired by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Friday (Sep. 26).

“Samdech Thipadei stressed that regarding the 18 soldiers under Thai custody, the Royal Government of Cambodia has never forgotten them. The Royal Government continues to employ all possible mechanisms to push for their release and their safe return to reunite with their families as soon as possible," according to the outcomes seen by Fresh News on Friday (Sep. 26).

As of 26 September 2025, it has been 59 days since the 18 Cambodian heroic soldiers were captured and placed under Thai military custody following the entry into force of the ceasefire. Cambodia has appealed to Thailand to release them at the earliest possible time so they can safely return to their families, in accordance with international humanitarian law.

It should be underlined that the Royal Government of Cambodia has been working tirelessly through every mechanism to ensure that Thailand releases our 18 soldiers promptly and safely.

The Royal Government, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces have never abandoned any of our forces under any circumstances.
