(Phnom Penh): At the request of Acting Head of State Hun Sen, Vivian Loss Sanmartin, Brazilian Ambassador to Cambodia, said that Brazil will consider dispatching coaches to train Cambodian athletes in football and volleyball.

The ambassador paid a courtesy call on Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Thursday (Sep. 25) at the Senate.

Taking this occasion, Samdech Techo highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in the sports sector, stressing that Brazil has great potential and rich sporting resources. When people talk about Brazil, they think of sports. Samdech Techo adding that he has long admired Brazilian sports, especially football and volleyball.

“Therefore, both sides should expand cooperation in sports, particularly through the dispatch of Brazilian coaches to help train Cambodian athletes in football and volleyball. This will serve as an important part of strengthening friendship between the two countries and promoting people-to-people exchanges,” Samdech Techo underscored.

In response, Ambassador Vivian Loss Sanmartin reaffirmed that Brazil will consider sending coaches to Cambodia to provide training in football and volleyball, stressing that this is something both sides can implement soon.

According to Senate Spokesperson Chea Thyrith, Samdech Techo Hun Sen also conveyed, on behalf of the Cambodian King, a warm welcome to the ambassador, noting that her presence marks a significant step in expanding Cambodia–Brazil relations. He further expressed delight that Brazil has established its first embassy in Cambodia, reflecting the strengthening of bilateral ties.
