(Phnom Penh): Thai military forces once again violated Cambodia’s sovereignty on Wednesday afternoon (Sep. 17) by advancing into Prey Chan Village, Ou Beichoan Commune, Ou Chrov District, Banteay Meanchey Province, territory under Cambodian jurisdiction.
During the incursion, Thai troops deployed tear gas against Cambodian civilians.
Banteay Meanchey Provincial Governor Um Reatrey confirmed that nearly ten people, including civilians, Buddhist monks, soldiers, and police officers, suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious. The confrontation escalated when Thai forces fired tear gas and rubber bullets at Cambodians resisting the intrusion.
