(Phnom Penh): The Cambodian National Police, led by Deputy National Police Commissioner General Seang Thearith, held a meeting with Thai Provincial Police, headed by Senior Executive Commissioner General Thatchai Pitaneelaboot, in Thailand’s Sa Kaeo Province. The two sides approved their first joint action plan to combat transnational crimes, focusing on cyber fraud and human trafficking.

The meeting, held from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., followed the first special session of the General Border Committee (GBC) in Koh Kong on 10 September 2025. That session called for closer collaboration between Cambodia and Thailand’s Interior Ministries and National Police to address cross-border crime.

As a result, both parties agreed to meet within a week to establish a joint task force and a dedicated working group to finalize and implement the action plan. Cooperation will be based on mutual respect, adherence to national laws, and recognition of sovereignty.

The Royal Government of Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to fighting all forms of transnational crime, stressing the urgency of tackling cyber fraud, which is rising rapidly in the region and worldwide. Cambodia also expressed hope that Thailand will maintain the same level of commitment in this joint effort.
