Phnom Penh – September 13, 2025 —Lucky Supermarket, Cambodia’s leading retailer, has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement with a series of impactful initiatives during Sustainability Month, an internal programme supported by DFI Retail Group.

Under the theme “Sustainability Today, Tomorrow, and Together”, Lucky Supermarket has mobilised its people to drive meaningful change for Cambodia’s environment and communities.
The highlight of this month’s activities was a palm tree planting event in the Phnom Cheung Lieng Community Protected Area, Kampong Chhnang Province, in close coordination with the Ministry of Environment. This initiative directly supports the Ministry’s national campaign “Grow Green Sprout,” which aims to plant 1 million palm trees by the end of 2025. Lucky Supermarket is honored to contribute 1,500 palm trees to this effort, generously provided by the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Department of Environment, helping to restore vital green spaces and inspire collective action.
“This initiative reflects Lucky Supermarket’s strong commitment to sustainability and our belief in the power of community,” said Charlie Bettencourt, CEO of Lucky Supermarket. “By working hand-in-hand with the Ministry and our local community, we are not only supporting Cambodia’s environmental vision but also empowering our team and community to make a lasting difference through meaningful action.”
The event was honored by the presence of H.E. Khvay Aitiya, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Environment, and Mr. Man Phalla, Head of the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Department of Environment, who joined Lucky Supermarket team members in planting the trees.
Beyond tree planting, Lucky Supermarket organised several other initiatives designed to foster environmental stewardship and community spirit to mark Sustainability Month:
• Community Clean-Up: Team members volunteered to clean up local neighborhoods, promoting civic pride and environmental awareness.
• E-Waste Awareness Workshop: In partnership with EcoBatt Energy Solution, Lucky Supermarket hosted a workshop to educate team members about responsible e-waste disposal and recycling.
• 4-Week Green Pledge Challenge: Team members committed to one eco-friendly action they could practice daily throughout the month. Pledges include reducing single-use plastics, conserving energy, and adopting sustainable habits at work and home — encouraging personal responsibility and collective impact.
Through these efforts, Lucky Supermarket continues to lead by example, championing sustainability and positive change across Cambodia. By working with government and local community Lucky Supermarket is building a cleaner, greener future for all.
