(Phnom Penh): From 6:00 a.m. on September 13 to 6:00 a.m. on September 15, 2025, at least 45,606 vehicles entered the premises of Cambodia’s new $2.15 billion Techo International Airport.

This figure only accounts for cars and larger vehicles, and does not yet include motorcycles or three-wheelers. The Techo International Airport, which officially commenced operations on 9 September 2025, has captured strong interest from both domestic and international visitors due to its large scale and elegant architectural design.

For its first week of operation, from September 9–15, the airport has been open for free public visits with no parking fees. Beginning September 16, however, all vehicles, including bicycles, motorcycles, and cars, will be subject to hourly parking charges, according to the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation.

Airport investors and civil aviation authorities welcomed the overwhelming turnout, calling it proof of the airport’s significance as a national landmark. They urged visitors to maintain order, cooperate with security, and avoid interfering with passengers traveling in and out of the country.
