(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Defence Minister Tea Seiha received a courtesy call by Dato’ Pahlawan Asri bin Shukor, Head of Mission of the Interim Observer Team (IOT) from Malaysia, along with the IOT delegation.
The meeting took place on Thursday morning (Sep. 11) at the Ministry of National Defence.
Dato’ Pahlawan Asri bin Shukor, Director of the Training Department of the Malaysian Army Headquarters and Head of Mission of the IOT, together with representatives from Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, arrived in Cambodia on 10 September 2025.
The Ministry of National Defence warmly welcomed the presence of the IOT delegation, emphasising that their visit demonstrates the active engagement of ASEAN member states, particularly Malaysia as the chair, in facilitating peaceful solutions between the two nations. This reflects the shared commitment to ensuring the success and sustainability of the ceasefire, with the goal of restoring peace, stability, cooperation, and development for the peoples of both Cambodia and Thailand.
This development follows the outcomes of the Special Meeting held on 28 July 2025 in Malaysia and the Extraordinary Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting on 7 August 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
