(Koh Kong): During a special meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) in Koh Kong Province on Wednesday (Sep. 10), Cambodia and Thailand emphasised on the needs of the return to normalcy, in this regard, with the request from Japan.

“The meeting emphasized on the needs of the return to normalcy, in this regard, with the request from Japan which proposed both countries to consider on the feasibility on reopening border checkpoints for the necessary goods transportation for the maintenance of critical regional supply chains,” Minister Tea Seiha underscored.

The minister continued that on border management, both sides recognized the Joint Boundary Commission as the key mechanism to address joint survey and demarcation issues, and agreed to solve any incidents along the border aims for better livelihood of the people from both countries.

In the same spirit, both sides agreed that refraining from spreading false information, fake news, accusations, and harmful rhetoric is vital to ease tensions, reduce negative public sentiment, and foster an environment conducive to peaceful dialogue.
