(Phnom Penh): Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. reaffirmed his country’s steadfast partnership with Cambodia, emphasising the opening of new pathways for cooperation and strengthening ties in areas beneficial to both nations.

Philippine president spoke on Monday (Sep. 8) during a joint press conference following his bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.

The president highlighted discussions across multiple sectors, focusing on how Cambodia and the Philippines can collaboratively improve conditions meaningfully for both peoples. Both countries acknowledged that the growth and resilience of their economies depend on enhanced cooperation in trade, agriculture, renewable energy, and the digital economy.

“Our region faces external influences, and I reaffirm that the Philippines remains a steadfast partner in opening new pathways for cooperation and strengthening relations in areas that benefit both our countries,” President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. underscored.

He added that both countries have agreed to deepen cooperation and implement cross-border institutional frameworks to ensure rapid, streamlined, and effective joint responses, underlining the importance of facilitating people-to-people interactions and smoother travel between the two nations.

The Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines signed three agreements namely:

1. Exchange of Note on the Amendment of Paragraph 1: Areas of Cooperation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Police of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Philippines National Police on Cooperation in Combating Transnational Crime.

2. Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Commission on Higher Education of the Republic of the Philippines on Cooperation in the Field of Higher Education.

3. Memorandum of Understanding on the Air Services between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of the Philippines.
