(Hanoi): Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen expressed gratitude to Viet Nam for continuously providing scholarships in all fields, including in the economic and military sectors, to support human resource training in Cambodia. Samdech Techo also expressed satisfaction and admiration for Viet Nam’s current progress.
Samdech Techo called on Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, on 1 September 2025 at the National Assembly building in Hanoi.
According to Spokesperson of the Senate Chea Thirith, during the meeting, the Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman warmly welcomed Samdech Techo and the Cambodian delegation for their visit and for attending the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and Viet Nam’s National Day celebrations. He regarded Samdech Techo and the delegation’s presence as a clear reflection of the strong and close ties between Cambodia and Viet Nam in the past as well as the present.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Vietnamese side to him and the Cambodian delegation. He stated that the August Revolution of 1945 was an important and meaningful part of Viet Nam’s history, which also inspired regional and global independence movements against colonialism.
Samdech Techo further expressed satisfaction with the longstanding Cambodia–Viet Nam relations, which have shown continued progress at legislative, executive, and party-to-party levels.
He also highlighted the progress in bilateral trade, noting that the two countries have achieved their annual trade target of USD 10 billion and are working toward the goal of USD 20 billion in the near future.
The Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman expressed appreciation for Samdech Techo’s candid remarks.
He also praised Cambodia’s development, observing that in 2024 Cambodia had demonstrated remarkable progress, particularly in the capital Phnom Penh’s growth. He noted that despite past hardships, Cambodia has now transformed, especially in the living standards of its people. He further acknowledged Cambodia’s growing prestige on the international stage, with increasing recognition across all levels.
