(Tianjin): On 31 August 2025, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on Wang Huning, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, during his stay in China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Plus Summit, to be held in Tianjin from 31 August to 1 September 2025.
“Samdech Thipadei expressed deep gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their cordial welcome and generous hospitality extended to the Cambodian delegation. The two leaders expressed confidence that the outcome of the substantive meeting between Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Chinese President Xi Jinping the previous day, as well as the consensus reached during President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Cambodia in April this year, would further deepen the iron-clad friendship and enduring partnership for peace and development between Cambodia and China,” according to the outcomes seen by Fresh News on Monday (Sep. 1).
“The two leaders also exchanged views on the situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border. Wang Huning expressed support for enhanced efforts to effectively implement the agreed ceasefire and pursue a peaceful resolution to the border issue between the two countries through existing bilateral mechanisms, in accordance with international law. Samdech Thipadei reiterated Cambodia’s sincere gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their steadfast support to Cambodia in promoting socio-economic development and safeguarding peace, stability, and independence of the nation.
On the same day, Samdech Thipadei met with Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The discussions covered potential major physical and social infrastructure development projects in Cambodia that could be financed under the AIIB’s facility and program.”
