(Tianjin): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on Sunday (Aug. 31) in Tianjin, China.
During the meeting, president of the AIIB thanked Samdech Thipadei for allowing his and his delegation to pay a courtesy call and warmly welcomed the premier to Tianjin on this occasion. He further conveyed that with AIIB’s operations and experience focusing on infrastructure development, the bank looks forward to continuing cooperation with Cambodia on key projects. He also expressed AIIB’s interest in expanding collaboration on social infrastructure development projects, particularly in modern education in Cambodia.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei extended his warm welcome and pleasure in meeting the president and his delegation once again. The premier emphasised that hard infrastructure remains a priority sector for Cambodia’s development, including roads, highways, and bridges.
Prime Minister Hun Manet also highlighted the Royal Government’s efforts in developing this sector, such as the construction of new international airports and the Funan Techo Canal project, which aims to boost industrial and logistics growth.
Furthermore, Samdech Thipadei underlined that a main priority of the Royal Government, from previous to current mandates, has been the development of quality human capital. In this regard, the government has pursued education reforms from primary to secondary levels, vocational training programs, and strengthening healthcare services at all levels, particularly at the grassroots level.
He stressed that focusing on building skilled human resources is a long-term investment to meet the demands of Cambodia’s industrial development both now and in the future.
Samdech Thipadei welcomed AIIB’s interest in exploring cooperation opportunities in Cambodia and encouraged the bank to continue working closely with relevant ministries and institutions to expand concrete partnerships further.
