(Phnom Penh): On Saturday afternoon (Aug. 30), the US Congressional Member Delegation (CODEL), led by Beth Van Duyne, Chair of the Delegation and Congresswoman for Texas, visited Angkor Wat temple complex in Siem Reap province.
The visit took place after completing a field inspection of Cambodian refugees at the Po 5000 Pagoda safety center, located in Kulen district, where they were warmly welcomed by Kim Rithy, Governor of Preah Vihear province.
The inspection of the refugee situation in Cambodia was an effort to gain a deeper understanding of the hardships faced by Cambodian citizens as a result of Thailand’s war of aggression.
It should be noted that the US Congressional Member Delegation is currently undertaking an official visit to Cambodia. The delegation has also met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and First Vice-chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia Sun Chanthol.
During meetings with Prime Minister Hun Manet and Sun Chanthol, the US Congressional Member Delegation affirmed that the US will continue to prioritize the implementation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.
