(Phnom Penh): Journalists from China, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Viet Nam, and Cambodia travelled to Preah Vihear province to meet local authorities and interview Cambodian citizens displaced by the Cambodia–Thailand border conflict.

Today’s visit was part of a regional workshop on “Safety and Risk Management in Conflict Reporting,” organised by the Ministry of Information from 28 to 31 August 2025. The workshop aimed to strengthen journalists’ capacity to report accurately and safely in conflict-affected areas while encouraging the exchange of experiences and best practices among participants.

Following the morning session, the journalists toured key sites in Preah Vihear affected by border fighting, including the Por 5000 Pagoda Displaced Shelter and surrounding areas.

In Oddar Meanchey province, participants will visit sites impacted by cluster munitions in P’Orng Village, Kon Kreal Commune, and by MK-84 bombs in Thmor Doun Village, Kukmorn Commune, Banteay Ompel District. The tour also includes Ta Moan Sen Chey Health Centre, a damaged gas station, Ta Moan Sen Chey Pagoda, Ta Moan Sen Chey Primary School, and the Thmor Kombor Pagoda Displaced Shelter.

In Banteay Meanchey province, the journalists will visit Ou Beichoan Commune, including Prey Chan and Chok Chey villages in Ou Chrov District, where Thai forces had installed barbed wire, illegally seizing villagers’ homes.
