(Beijing): Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan on 26 August 2025.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning, who uploaded photos of the meeting on her social media, described the audience as significant for China and Cambodia to stand more firmly together in the face of an international situation marked by changes and uncertainties, to carry forward their traditional friendship, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, accelerate the building of an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era, and bring more benefits to the two peoples.

It should be noted that King Norodom Sihamoni and queen mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk departed Phnom Penh for Beijing, China for a routine medical check-up on 23 August 2025. During the king’s absence, President of the Senate Hun Sen will assume the title of the acting head of state.
