(Phnom Penh): The Ministry of National Defence presented the outcomes of the Extraordinary Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) between the Military Region 5 of Cambodia and the Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defence Command of Thailand on 25 August 2025, with Cambodia as a host, according to the Ministry’s press release.

The Cambodian delegation was led by Lieutenant General Ek Sam Aun, the Commander of the Military Region 5 of Cambodia and Co-chairman of the RBC Extraordinary Meeting. The Thai delegation was led by Vice Admiral Aphichat Sapprasert, the Commander of the Border Defence Command of Chanthaburi and Trat Provinces and Co-chairman of the RBC Extraordinary Meeting.

The meeting commenced at 10:30 a.m. and successfully concluded at 11:20 a.m. on 25 August 2025.

During this extraordinary meeting, both the Cambodian and Thai sides agreed to maintain regular communication between their respective army areas and military regions, and units along the Cambodia-Thailand border. They also pledged to resolve all issues peacefully and to avoid any conflicts.

Both sides also emphasised the importance of further strengthening relations at all levels in order to build trust and promote good neighbourliness. Through this communication, both sides highlighted the positive developments and progress achieved to date, aiming to promote cooperation in all sectors and thereby ensure a return to normalcy.
