(Oddar Meanchey): Visiting the Cambodian–Thai border in Banteay Meanchey and Oddar Meanchey provinces, Ukrainian Ambassador to Cambodia Oleksandr Gaman, who serves as a non-resident ambassador based in Hanoi, Viet Nam, expressed strong support for the ceasefire agreement reached between the two countries on 28 July 2025.
“I would like to congratulate Cambodia and Thailand that they have reached a ceasefire on the 28th of July. And I do believe that this ceasefire will bring last and just peace to both sides,” said the ambassador.
Reflecting on the human toll of the border clashes, he said: “First of all, I would like to thank the Cambodian side for organising such an important event."
Drawing a comparison with his own country’s struggle, he added: “Especially for me as a Ukrainian, it’s very important to see. Because for the last three and a half years, Ukrainians are heavily hit by Russian aggression. And every day we see how many damages are coming from the Russian side, killing civilians, damaging hospitals, schools, other infrastructure. So, just recently, during the last day, Russia hit Ukraine with more than 500 drones and 40 different types of missiles.”
On Ukraine’s position regarding the ceasefire, Ambassador Gaman made his stance clear. “We fully support the ceasefire and I strongly believe that this ceasefire will bring just and lasting peace to both sides.”
