(Phnom Penh): On Wednesday (Aug. 20), Cambodian Ministry of National Defence facilitated the Interim Observer Team (IOT) comprising representatives from five countries, led by Colonel Nazlee Bin Abdul Rahim, Malaysian Defence Attaché to Cambodia, to visit the surrounding area around Preah Vihear Temple in order to observe, verify and report on the update situation after the Ceasefire Agreement.

It is worth noting that this mission stemmed from the outcomes of the Special Meeting held on 28 July 2025, in Putrajaya, Malaysia, and the Extraordinary Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (Extraordinary GBC Meeting) was concluded on 7 August 2025, which reaffirmed the importance of the IOT deployment.

The Ministry of National Defence reaffirms Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to upholding the ceasefire agreement and firmly committed to the principles of international law, the peaceful resolution of disputes and maintaining its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.
