(Phnom Penh): Ly Thuch, First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), appealed to the Thai side to end its ambitions of encroachment on Cambodia and instead turn toward building peace, friendship, and good relations to bring prosperity to both nations.

Ly Thuch spoke on Monday (Aug. 18) during a press conference on Thailand's baseless accusations against Cambodia concerning the alleged use of new landmines at CMAA’s headquarters.

“Cambodia calls on the Thai side to end its ambitions of encroachment on Cambodia, and to turn toward building peace, friendship, and good neighbourly relations, as countries sharing a border, and to work together to improve the livelihoods of people on both sides in the future,” he underscored.

He stressed that Cambodia genuinely cherishes peace and seeks prosperity for future generations. Cambodia continues to keep its doors open for cooperation with Thailand in mine clearance efforts.

Ly Thuch added that Cambodia is a country that has suffered from past tragedies, but has worked hand in hand with many countries around the world, especially within the framework of CMAC sharing valuable experiences and lessons with a number of nations to help prevent the dangers posed by landmines.
