(Phnom Penh): Major General Uy Hieng, Commander of the 3rd Military Region requested Vice Admiral Aphichat Sapprasert, Commander of the Chanthaburi and Trat Border Defence Command to avoid actions that could inadvertently increase tensions, according to the outcomes of the Cambodia-Thailand Extraordinary Regional Border Committee (RBC) Meeting, held on Saturday (Aug. 16) in Trat Province, Thailand.

The Cambodian delegation was led by Major General Uy Hieng, Commander of the 3rd Military Region and Co-Chairman of the Extraordinary RBC Meeting. The Thai delegation was led by Vice Admiral Aphichat Sapprasert, Commander of the Chanthaburi and Trat Border Defense Command and Co-Chairman of the Extraordinary RBC Meeting.

"Cambodia also underscored the importance of avoiding actions that could inadvertently increase tensions, including the laying of barbed wire, destruction of the existing infrastructure particularly civilian residential structures, and the dissemination of fake news or false information, as such developments risk eroding trust and undermining efforts to maintain a stable and peaceful environment.”

Please be informed that the meeting stemmed from the outcomes of the Special Meeting held on 28 July 2025 and the 13-point Agreed Minutes reached at the GBC Meeting on 7 August 2025 in Malaysia.
