(Banteay Meanchey): A group of Interim Observer Team (IOT) members from seven countries, led by the Malaysian Defence Attaché to Cambodia and joined by other defence attachés residing both inside and outside Cambodia, visited Boeung Trakuon border checkpoint in Banteay Meanchey province on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 14). This is an area where Thai troops have placed barbed wire and vehicle tires to encircle a Cambodian civilian settlement.
It should be recalled that on 12–13 August 2025, Thai paramilitary forces and border patrol forces, fully armed, conducted activities opposite the Chok Chey Village checkpoint and laid barbed wire within Cambodia’s sovereign territory in Chok Chey Village, Ou Beichoan commune, Ou Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province.
The Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the ceasefire agreement, its firm adherence to the principles of international law, the peaceful resolution of disputes, and the defence of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, regardless of the cost.
The Cambodian side continues to maintain its strongest and clearest unwavering commitment to fully respecting and strictly implementing the terms, spirit, and mutual understanding reached at the recent Extraordinary GBC Meeting on 7 August 2025. Cambodia will work with Thailand, Malaysia, ASEAN member states, and all relevant partners to ensure effective and complete implementation of the ceasefire, as well as the peaceful settlement of all disputes in accordance with international law, the UN Charter, and the ASEAN Charter.
