(Phnom Penh): Pen Bona, Delegate Minister and Head of the Royal Government’s Spokesperson Unit, said that the landmine incidents could not have occurred had the Thai military forces respected the ceasefire agreement by maintaining their current troop deployment.
Pen Bona spoke on Thursday (Aug. 14) during a press conference on the implementation of the Cambodia-Thailand ceasefire.
“The landmine incident would not have happened if the Thai side had fully respected and implemented the ceasefire agreement by maintaining their current troop deployment without further movement as it was at the time of the ceasefire entering into force at midnight on 28 July 2025,” the spokesperson underscored.
According to the spokesperson, Cambodia calls on Thailand to strictly respect and implement with good faith the spirit of the ceasefire and demands that Thailand immediately stops using landmine incidents to deceive the international community to cover up its ceasefire violations.
