(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, stated that it has now been 14 days since Thai forces illegally detained Cambodian soldiers following the official implementation of the ceasefire, speaking at a press conference on Tuesday (Aug. 12).

She underlined, “Cambodia continues to call on Thailand to implement the agreement and return the 18 Cambodian soldiers who were detained after the ceasefire, which has been 14 days, so that they can reunite with their families who are earnestly waiting for their return days and nights.”

At the same time, the spokesperson expressed gratitude to the partner countries and numerous international institutions that have repeatedly called for Thailand to release the Cambodian officers as soon as possible.

She also reiterated Cambodia’s commitment to ensuring that no Cambodian military personnel are left behind or abandoned.
