(Phnom Penh): The National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia expresses its profound disappointment regarding the statement of support by Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Thailand, for Lieutenant General Boonsin Padklang, the Commander of the Second Army Region of Thailand, published in Thai language on the official website of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Thailand and in The Nation Thailand newspaper dated August 10, 2025, concerning the Commander of the Second Army Region’s pre-retirement plans, to be executed within his remaining 51 days of service: first, to seize the Ta Krabei Temple from Cambodia's legitimate control, and second, to close the Ta Moan Thom Temple, which is situated within the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Cambodia. This announcement is the irrefutable evidence of a deliberate and premeditated act of provocation and an attempted invasion of Cambodian sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"The National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia considers the statement of support by Wan Muhamad Noor Matha to be a serious violation of the ceasefire agreement and an act of encouragement that elevates the Thai military's provocations into a policy endorsed by the Thai legislative institution. The National Assemblies of both our nations, as representative institutions of our people, should applaud the generally calm and stable situation along our shared border. We must continue to build upon this positive momentum rather than engage in actions that hinder the restoration of peace, stability, and normal relations between our two countries. This outcome is desired by our people and the entire international community, as evidenced by the widespread commendation and support for the ceasefire agreement and the positive outcomes of the Extraordinary Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee," according to the statement seen by Fresh News on Monday (Aug. 11).
