(Kuala Lumpur): During the Extraordinary General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting between Cambodia and Thailand, held on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 7), both sides agreed to a ceasefire involving all types of weapons, including attacks on civilian and civilian objects and military objectives of either side, in all cases and all areas.

The Extraordinary GBC meeting was led on the Cambodian side by Minister of National Defence Tea Seiha, and on the Thai side by the acting minister of defence of Thailand.

The meeting was convened under the coordination of the Malaysia prime minister, who currently holds the ASEAN rotating chairmanship, and was also attended by representatives from the United States and the People’s Republic of China.

“Both sides agree to a ceasefire involving all types of weapons, including attacks on civilians and civilian objects and military objectives of either side, in all cases and all areas. Both sides must avoid unprovoked firing towards the other side’s positions or troops. This agreement must not be violated under any circumstances,” according to the agreed minutes of the meeting.

In addition, both sides agree to maintain current troop deployments without further movement as it is at the time ceasefire reached at 24:00 hours (local time) on 28 July 2025. There shall be no troop movements including patrol towards the other side’s position.
